ARCHIVED REPORT: Bathurst Esses Hillclimb RD 2 2009

Date: 7/3/09 | Host Club: Bathurst Light Car Club

Maybe it was something about the great weather conditions and a fast track but there was certainly something in the air at Bathurst at Round 2.  It seemed that most drivers were trying hard, particularly on Saturday, with quite a few requiring the services of the recovery vehicle!  Commiserations to those who found the wall a little unforgiving.

At the pointy end of the field, Tim Edmondson (Force PC) grabbed FTD on his second run (23.74s) to edge out Tom Donovan (24.85s) who had a few mechanical gremlins and completed two runs only.  Third outright was Stephen Hooker (Jedi Suzuki) from Ron Hay (RH Honda) Phil Pratt (Trojan) and Steve Moxon (Axtell Suzuki).

It says something about the nature of the Esses course when the open wheelers finish in positions 1-9.  Matt Halpin’s Torana was the best of the  Tin Tops in tenth outright followed by Neil DePau (Radical Prosport) best sports car.

EDITORS NOTES:

  • As always the BLCC ran a great show and the weather assisted in making it a relaxed weekend.  Despite the unscheduled stoppages the programme was completed in timely fashion.
  • Thanks again to BLCC for the use of the clubrooms and for organizing the catering for the Saturday evening’s presentation of the 2008 Trophies.
